After a very long break, I am officially back working on the beetle. Lack of money and time over the past 8-12 months has really slowed things down. Money isn’t much better, but I actually have a place to work on the beetle in my own garage. I can just go out to my garage anytime the urge hits me and work on things. Step one for tonight was get the damned thing cleaned out. While it was at Mom and Dads place there wasn’t much room. So we all ended up using the bug as a storage spot for anything VW. Down side is, the floor pans have developed a hint of surface rust. L I removed everything from the car, and vacuumed out the sawdust and sand (from the sandblasting). I can actually see the inside of the car again.

Next up will be to get some POR15 paint and do the floor pans and engine bay. I’m hoping to pick it up this week and start in the evenings or next weekend if time permits after the ball tournament. After that, I  will be to either getting an engine from Alex or to bringing my old 1500cc from Dads place over here and start cleaning it up and prepping it for installation. I would much prefer to use Alex’s old engine, however time constraints and such have made acquiring the engine difficult. I will likely install my stock 1500cc as I know it runs, and runs well. If/When I get Alex’s engine, I will work on it in the garage and attempt to beef up the performance significantly. Turn it into a real road warrior. Once the buildup is complete, I will just swap engines.

Once the pans and engine bay have been painted with POR15; and the engine is ready to go back in; the next step will be electrical. And then the fun begins.
