Thruxton -1000km review + Quicky Kid update

Well, I’ve been riding the new steed as much as weather and workload permits. Finally hit the 1,000km mark last night. Bike is  booked in for Tuesday for the 1st service. They do the check over of the entire bike, lube and check everything. After that, most services will be done at home. Just thought I better have it looked over first.

As for the bike, when compared to my Honda CBR600RR: it’s slower, heavier, doesn’t handle as good, tougher to maneuver at slow speeds, far quieter, doesn’t brake as well and has even less storage space. All that said, I love it. So far it has been a much easier bike to drive long periods of time. The CBR always left me with sore neck or wrists after longer rides. None of that on this bike. Because the riding position is less aggressive, it seems to be much easier on the body. Also, it is more comfortable for 2 up riding. Mileage is so far the same.  Basically it is 9/10ths as good in every category compared to the Honda with the exception of ergonomics. And more comfortable means more seat time. More seat time is what it’s all about. Who cares if I give up 1/2 a second in the quarter mile if I am sore every time I go out for more then 30minutes.  Will re-check back in around the 5k mark see how things are once Ive been able to push it harder in the warmer weather without the 4000rpm limit that this break-in period has limited me to.

And as mentioned in the title, quicky kid update! My little boy went to school last night for the first time! He did the orientation night at St. Mary’s and as Joey said “He LOVED IT”. Hopefully he has the same enthusiasm come September. Proud of you buddy!
