First off, big thanks go out to my buddy Aaron. He hooked me up with a spray can of the Arrival Blue Metallic paint which I’m considering painting my beetle if and when we ever get it that far. Paint is a weird thing. Alex and I painted a couple scraps of steel and it looked almost navy/black. I was certain the mixture must have been wrong. But then I took the piece with me to the dealership, and held it up to a truck, and it was dead on. I don’t get it at all. How can it look soooo great on the truck, but sooo dark in your hand. Long story short, its still my choice in colours, but I’m defiantly going to spend some more time looking around before I choose. This weekend is the Jitterbug car show in Niagara falls. 300-500 VW Beetles. I’m sure to get some colour ideas there.

I spent some time this week chopping out crappy patches the previous bug owners had. Word of advice, a piece of tin, 3 different screws, and a boat load of tar does NOT equal proper patches. Idiots. So i got to cutting, and Alex started patching the freshly cut holes. Quite nicely i might add. 2 months and a couple days till the jack and jill. Getting down to the crunch time now. Cross your fingers we will be able to get it into the paint shop soon. They will likely need 2-3 weeks with the car in the paint shop, so thats gonna leave us even tighter for time.

One more day of work for this week, and finally it’s over. Going to be tied up for several hours Saturday for Shannons brothers birthday. Hopefully Alex and I can spend time on the car Saturday afternoon. Will have to wait and see.

Happy Fathers day to all the Fathers out there. Especially mine. Hope you had a good one even though you had to go to work. Thems the breaks I guess. Had a good time despite some sad circumstances surrounding a good friend of my cousins. I won’t go into details, but please pray for her and her family, as she can use all the help she can in these tough times. This kid has spunk, and if anyone can pull through it, she can.

82 More days till the Wedding. Haven’t done too much since my last update. Started gathering the mailing addresses, so we can hopefully get them mailed out in the next 5-7 days.

Not much news on the bug as of late. Little tinkering here and there, but definately no major milestones to speak of. Trucks about the same. Nothing new there, aside from the sparkly clean wash job it got from my sweety. I don’t know I liked the looks of better:  the finished sparkly truck, or Shannon washing it :-). Thanks again.

Oh, pictures from Fathers day get together at the Shoups’ can be found HERE. Thanks for the cluck cluck 🙂

Thats it for tonight. Hopefully be back with some more info later this week. Gotta go soak my toe. In case your wonderring, yes, it does hurt to kick the bottom of a door with sandals on. I split my toe nail in 2 and its still bleeding a day and a half later

Only 90 days till the wedding. We’re in the crunch now baby.. Ya. Plans still coming along. Hopefully Shannon and I can finally buckle down and get things ironed out and put in stone this week. I don’t even want to think about it after July 1st. I want it all planned. (ya right).

Shannon and I just had an awesome weekend. As many of you know, Jim_ from 2cpu has recently moved down the the St. Catherine’s area, and our online friendship has developed into a pretty good real life one. Not to mention his girlfriend Alicia (who is a sweet heart IMO) and Shannon have gotten off famously. Very scary in Jim and my opinion. Two girls, get along super great, who have a great deal in common,  both love shopping. Not a good combo.

This weekend, to add to the mix, a Erle, from IRC (AKA Duke), who I’ve been wanting to meet for ages made the 6 hour commute south from Ottawa to visit us all. I don’t think I’ve been this sore from laughing since college. Jim and Erle go way back (in real life too, not just IRC).  The 5 of us got along like lifelong friends, not like people who have basically just met. I wish we all lived closer so we could get together much much more often. Thanks a lot for a great time guys, it was a blast. Erle, you’re as cool in person as you are on IRC.. It was a pleasure to finally get together.

Bug updates: we’ve hit a snag. A medium sized one. While reconstructing the front corner, we assumed that the people who fixed it up before did it right, and made it all straight, and all we would need to do is patch the holes and strengthen the metal. WRONG. Butcher job. We put the fenders on, and one side was close to dead on, whereas the other side was very crooked looking. Alex has decided to cut the part of his donor beetle and weld it in instead of trying to straighten the butcher job the the guys before us did. We can deal with imperfection and we know this isn’t going to be 100% dead on, but we do have limits to how far out of spec we will go. This is way to far out. Hopefully we can have it put in by next weekend, and the very last of the welding done. I know I’ve said that for the past few weeks, but rain, baseball and family commitments have hindered progress. Looks like now weather may actually be warming  up to summer temps, and we may get some work done in the evenings too, not just 4-5 hours each weekend. Here’s hoping !!!!
