Auto-Update – Spring edition

Spring has sprung and I am getting the garage in full swing 😉  Motorcycle is running awesome. I’ve put in about 300kms so far this week. 500 more and I will be passed the stupid break-in period and I’ll finally be able to open her up above 4000rpm. Will be interesting to see what it’s capable of.

Bug is still slumbering in Dads and Moms garage. Just got a call that my new front bumper is at Johns Bug Shop waiting for me to pick it up. Then everything gets dropped off with Paul to have some brackets fabbed up and everything installed.

Silverado is still doing it’s daily duty. Finally have all the front end parts for the 03 swap. They’ve been dropped off with Paul (lots of work for him this summer). Fenders getting a fresh coat of pewter sprayed and the hood a buffing of the black paint that’s already on it. Can’t bring myself to paint a black hood now, just to paint it black again next year. While he’s got the parts he’s also going to paint the roll pan. and install it all in the weeks to come. Ordering the rear flip kit and ball joints this week so I can get it slammed nice and low this spring. Can’t wait for the paint work and suspension to be done.

As for the Jeep, pretty sure I am running out of excuses with Shannon. Looks like I`m gonna have to get the hard top swapped out for the soft top in the very near future.

Happy Birthday Wifey, and stuff

Spring is coming. Sloooowwwly. Next 5 days are the first in 6 months where there hasn’t been a minus temperature in the forecast. I will believe it when I see it, but I’m feeling somewhat optimistic. If spring doesn’t come soon, I’m pretty sure my kids heads will explode. They have a serious case of cabin fever. Not to mention Joe has grown just enough he is banging into everything. If he don’t get outside for some running around soon, he will have to start wearing a helmet in the house.

Auto updates: Truck part collecting is still continuing. I haven’t done much work on the truck (actually none),  but I have collected nearly everything I need for my 03+ front end swap and yesterday I picked up the control arms that will get the front end of the truck closer to the ground. Funny subnote : these are MY old control arms that I installed on my LAST 2000 Silverado :-). Found the previous owner and struck a deal. Needs 2 ball joints but otherwise good to go.

Beside the truck is my dusty new Triumph Thruxton. I have officially ridden for 2 kms now. Still haven’t left the block yet, but I at least got to get her up to speed. Going to be very different ride compared to what I am  used to. I got busy and installed my new fender eliminator. SEXY new tail light installed. Nice and bright and super sleek. Can’t wait till its on the road indicating my intentions. Although not much light coming from the bike while I accelerate 😉

Lastly, as the title said, Happy birthday to my beautiful wife. She just turned 29 again. Love you wifey. Hope you had a great day/week 😉

The winter that will not end…

Well on Game of Thrones they keep saying Winter is Coming… Well.. Next question is — when the heck will it leave?! Seems to be the longest/coldest winter we’ve had in YEARS. I realize its only just March, but the fact the snow started in November and simly hasn’t let up since is making this feel much worse then it is. I simply can’t remember the last day with zero flurries.

Couple quick updates for the vehicles:

Silverado hasn’t changed much at all since I put it on the road, but I have been busy collecting parts for Project SSilverado. So far, I’ve picked up a rollpan, new hood, fender and front bumper. I ran out of room in the truck bed, and now have to go back to pick up the grill shell, 2 bumper brackets and driver side fender. Tomorrow I pickup my headlamps. Once I get all those parts, I will be ready to do my 03+ front end swap. Still needs to be painted, but working on getting everything ready first. Not sure if I will just paint the stock colour for now, or jump right into a full colour change. Will see what kinda quotes Paul gives me.

In bigger news, I decided (and successfully) sold my Honda CBR600rr. I love the bike, but I decided now was the time to make the jump to something I have been in love with since the first time I seen one : Triumph Thruxton. After lots of looking around and searching, I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a brand new 2014 Black/Gold strip Thruxton from Struges in Hamilton. I am in LOVE with the bike. It was delivered a couple weeks ago and has been keeping my bug company in my Dads garage. I am aching to take it out for its maiden voyage. Currently has ZERO kms on it. Bike was brought to Hamilton in a crate and due to the weather they couldn’t road test it. So the bike is ultra fresh. In lieu of riding the bike, I decided to order the first of likely many parts I will put on this bike in the coming years: a Tron legacy style tail light/fender eliminator kit. Really makes the bike look clean and sporty but still vintage. Really a resto-mod style if that makes any sense. Modern take on a retro bike. Now, just have to wait for the weather to improve so I can pull it out of hibernation !
