Happy Birthday Wifey, and stuff

Spring is coming. Sloooowwwly. Next 5 days are the first in 6 months where there hasn’t been a minus temperature in the forecast. I will believe it when I see it, but I’m feeling somewhat optimistic. If spring doesn’t come soon, I’m pretty sure my kids heads will explode. They have a serious case of cabin fever. Not to mention Joe has grown just enough he is banging into everything. If he don’t get outside for some running around soon, he will have to start wearing a helmet in the house.

Auto updates: Truck part collecting is still continuing. I haven’t done much work on the truck (actually none),  but I have collected nearly everything I need for my 03+ front end swap and yesterday I picked up the control arms that will get the front end of the truck closer to the ground. Funny subnote : these are MY old control arms that I installed on my LAST 2000 Silverado :-). Found the previous owner and struck a deal. Needs 2 ball joints but otherwise good to go.

Beside the truck is my dusty new Triumph Thruxton. I have officially ridden for 2 kms now. Still haven’t left the block yet, but I at least got to get her up to speed. Going to be very different ride compared to what I am  used to. I got busy and installed my new fender eliminator. SEXY new tail light installed. Nice and bright and super sleek. Can’t wait till its on the road indicating my intentions. Although not much light coming from the bike while I accelerate 😉

Lastly, as the title said, Happy birthday to my beautiful wife. She just turned 29 again. Love you wifey. Hope you had a great day/week 😉

The winter that will not end…

Well on Game of Thrones they keep saying Winter is Coming… Well.. Next question is — when the heck will it leave?! Seems to be the longest/coldest winter we’ve had in YEARS. I realize its only just March, but the fact the snow started in November and simly hasn’t let up since is making this feel much worse then it is. I simply can’t remember the last day with zero flurries.

Couple quick updates for the vehicles:

Silverado hasn’t changed much at all since I put it on the road, but I have been busy collecting parts for Project SSilverado. So far, I’ve picked up a rollpan, new hood, fender and front bumper. I ran out of room in the truck bed, and now have to go back to pick up the grill shell, 2 bumper brackets and driver side fender. Tomorrow I pickup my headlamps. Once I get all those parts, I will be ready to do my 03+ front end swap. Still needs to be painted, but working on getting everything ready first. Not sure if I will just paint the stock colour for now, or jump right into a full colour change. Will see what kinda quotes Paul gives me.

In bigger news, I decided (and successfully) sold my Honda CBR600rr. I love the bike, but I decided now was the time to make the jump to something I have been in love with since the first time I seen one : Triumph Thruxton. After lots of looking around and searching, I finally decided to take the plunge and ordered a brand new 2014 Black/Gold strip Thruxton from Struges in Hamilton. I am in LOVE with the bike. It was delivered a couple weeks ago and has been keeping my bug company in my Dads garage. I am aching to take it out for its maiden voyage. Currently has ZERO kms on it. Bike was brought to Hamilton in a crate and due to the weather they couldn’t road test it. So the bike is ultra fresh. In lieu of riding the bike, I decided to order the first of likely many parts I will put on this bike in the coming years: a Tron legacy style tail light/fender eliminator kit. Really makes the bike look clean and sporty but still vintage. Really a resto-mod style if that makes any sense. Modern take on a retro bike. Now, just have to wait for the weather to improve so I can pull it out of hibernation !

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

I bit late with my update. Normally like to do every couple weeks, but with the crazyness which was the holidays followed by the back to work rush, I’m a bit late.

As always, Christmas was fantastic. Time with the family and friends is my favorite parts. Holidays started out as always with the Shannon, the kids and myself out to get a tree. This years was a big one! I believe it measured in around 13-14′ feet. Was kinda hard to determine but it was HUGE.

Even though Shannons’ Mom and Dave were away this Christmas we still had no shortage of family fun! After church on Christmas Eve, we headed out to the Shoups for round one of snacks and jokes. This has long been my favorite part of Christmas. It’s the calm before the storm.  Home to bed and we slept while Santa did his thing. Woke up in the morning to find the fat man in a red suit stopped by and did his thing. Kids were beyond stoked. So we loaded everything up, and back to the Shoups we went for the crazy opening frenzy with the entire extended family. Still blows my mind that I’m now in my mid 30’s and this tradition has somehow carried on. Goes to show how close my family really is. After what felt like a millions presents were opened and everyone was sufficiently spoiled, we had a big breakfast and then loaded up for the next stop.

Next up: Off top Nana and Poppa Jeffs in Hamilton. Spoiling continued there of course. Still not sure where we are going to find homes for all the stuff the kids got but we’ll make it work. Dinner with the Woodalls was excellent. Some of Shannon’s cousins were in which made Joey and Abby’s day. Nearly had to drag them out of the house to head home at bed time. Once the festivities finished up, we all went home for a much needed sleep.

Boxing day: Back to the Shoups for yet another Christmas feast. Boxing day is not always a turkey dinner, ususally left over and some additional items depending on how many would make it out. Well, my favorite part of any family meal is the stuffing. Specifically the way my family does it. Yes, others are OK, but the recipe that i’ve been eating since childhood is THE correct way to make it. Now because we alternate Christmas dinners (one year my side, next year Shannons) I don’t always get my family stuffing. And being a Woodall year, I feared I would have to wait on the ‘good stuff’. Well Uncle Shoupie went above and beyond and made another  turkey dinner COMPLETE with the good stuffing. What better way could I finish off the Christmas dinner extravaganza?! Thank you SO much. The scale wasn’t happy, but I sure was.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this holiday a great one!

Part 2 –

New Years Eve was spent at Katie and Brians freshly finished house. Amazing to see how far the house has come in 8-10 months. Especially seeing how the work was all done while getting ready for their wedding. Did a great job guys. As for the party, was as to be expected. House full of loud and crazy family with great food. Just the way I like it!

Because Shannons Mom and Step Dad were away over the holidays, we had to postpone Christmas until they got home. It was  quiet afternoon with lots of laughs and yummy food.  It was just the 6 of us, so it was much quieter then most of the other festivities over the last couple weeks, but the quiet was welcomed.

Unfortunately after we left Shannons Moms place, late in the night, her Mom got the call that Grandma Bobby wasn’t doing very well. Mary Jane quickly went to her home, and shortly thereafter she passed away. I don’ really know what else I can say, other then she will be missed. Rest in Peace Bobby
