April snow brings … wait.. wTF

As the weather attempts to get warmer, I get closer to riding my bike. Looks like beginning of June will be all systems go.  I could do it a bit earlier, but weather, maternity leave pay, and surgery at the end of May is hindering speeding things up.

Speaking of surgery, I guess I should update that. May 31st I will be having another surgery done on my eye. First one since the month the accident happened. New implant should improve fit of the cover, and hopefully improve movement.  Scary to think it’s been 20 years since the accident. Yikes!

Fun News: Ian and Jen tied the knot! Abby and I were lucky enough to be in the wedding party, and Shannon was there to take lots of pics. We had a great day. Abby was an absolute ANGEL. Couldn’t have asked for a better behaved kid. And I have been waiting a lot of years to be able to dance with my little girl. I think she had almost as much fun as her very proud daddy did. Scary thing is, before I know it, I will be dancing with her at HER Wedding. Hopefully the time doesn’t go by tooo fast.  Joe-Joe skipped out on the festivities. He opted to hang with Grandpa Jeff for the day/night. He heard there wasn’t gonna be any chicks his age there, so he bailed 🙂

Speaking of the little man : he has started walking. Still a bit of a challenge for him, but he’s taking more and more steps without furniture each day. Now if we could get Abby to stop tackling him every time he walks, he may actually get somewhere. Once he masters walking, Abby is in deep, deep trouble.

Last update : GTI is looking good. Nice and low and rolling on the 18’s finally. Would have been happy if the rear came down .5 inches more, but all in all it will do. When it’s time do replace the struts, I may just do coilovers so I can adjust the height exactly where I want it. Thats hopefully not till next year though. Only other things I want to do this year are the exhaust and re-tint the windows, and hopefully nothing more but oil changes and fuel. The rest of my spare $$ will be directed to getting caught up from Shannons maternity leave, and also getting some upgrades done around the house.

Bike papers + new bump in the trunk

Finally felt like I had read the hand book enough, and stopped by the drivetest building to take my M1 motorcycle written test. Passed with flying colours! Tomorrow I will be calling and booking my M2 road class. It’s a 2.5 day course where they are supposed to teach you everything from ‘this is a bike’ to ‘now go drive’. Looking forward to learning some practical skills and getting on the road with my Yamaha.

Only other news is my sub box for the GTI is complete. Fits snug as a bug, and from the quick test i’ve done so far, it sounds great. If my measurements are correct, not only did I regain my entire storage area of the hatch, but I also gained about 1-1.25cubic feet of airspace in the enclosure.   Thanks again to Paul for the fiberglass lessons and help

EDIT: M2 class now booked for May as well!

An update?? Whhhaaatt??

Well it’s been almost two months since my last post. 3 If you skip the little update ones. Anyways, Merry belated Christmas. Once again, everything was excellent this year. Lots of being spoiled. Lots of food. And most importantly lots of time with family and friends.

Our kids are getting huge. Pretty sure Abby is ready for college and Joe is about to graduate highschool. Maybe not THAT far along, but sure feels like it. Abby is more and more of a big girl every day. She completed (with some major pushing) her figure skating lessons, and now enrolled in some night activities with her Mom and other kids. Joe is a non stop ball of fire. Kid doesn’t sit still. Crawling everywhere, and now starting to ‘walk’ around furniture and such. Won’t be long till he starts chasing his sister on foot.

Speaking of kids.. I have to congratulate my sister Donna, and her husband Grant on the addition of their beautiful baby girl. Reese Donna Mabel.  A couple little hiccups when she came out, but all is well now. Growing stronger each day. Won’t be long till all three kids are in Mom and Dads yard beating each other up. Congrats again guys!! She’s a keeper!

New Golf is getting closer to being happy. Couple stupid things needed to be done. Previous owner assured me the timing belt was done. WRONG. 500$ later, timing belt and water pump done. All good, right? Bam.. Axle boot torn, and axle is junk. Not previous owners fault, just shit luck. New axle installed and shes running strong again. Next up : gonna be a full brake job. Again, nothing serious, just a bunch of big items all due to be done at the same time. Ahh well. Maybe I can sneak some lowering springs in at the same time. Stereo is excellent. Spent some time on Saturday with Paul learning how to fiberglass a new box for it. The base is popped out, and Paul is going to keep thickening it up this week. With any luck, I can finish it off and install next weekend. W00t. Hidden bass for the win!

Audi has  blown a hole in the flex pipe, so Shannons car is sounding like a derby car. I like loud exhausts, but a hole 18″ after the turbo and prior to the mufflers makes for a terrible drone.

Bike is still sitting waiting to go get the final prep work done. Looking to do that in the next week or so. Also, hoping to get in and write my m1 beginner test so that I am all ready for the driver training. Speaking of which, I think I better book that tonight.

Bug is still sleeping 🙂  Nothing to report

Finally some sad news. After a long struggle Uncle Steve has lost his battle with cancer. I don’t really know what to say here, other then you will be missed dearly. We love you Uncle Steve. Rest in Peace.
