Drop it like its hot…

Well, with the first of April, I officially gave up the Golf. Dad seems to be having a lot of fun driving the old heap around. Sad news is, after many years of service, the ‘Blue Bus’ has finally been retired. RIP in scrap yard heaven!

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve spent many hours in the garage, working on the trucks suspension. Kevin came over one weekend, and we got the rear end lowered 6″. Went in fairly easy, just time consuming. We gave up and quit at midnight. Over the next week to 10 days, I spent several hours in the garage with help from Matt, Grant and Aaron to finish off the front end. Would have gone much quicker had the balljoints not been such a bitch to pop. In the end, the trucks lowered, and looks awesome. Thanks for all the help guys! Since then, I have got the alignment done, installed my bedrug, had tint put on the front doors/windshield and also had my alarm and new muffler installed.  (Thank Mike for the alarm help!) Was a very busy month the truck. That said, truck is pretty much done until I can find some money for wheels, hood, and headers.

The truck isn’t the only vehicle to get some loving. Alex and Paul have been nice enough to help me out with the bug again seeing as I’ve been swamped getting my truck done and back on the road. The carpet kit has been installed. Hopefully will get it towed up to Dions soon to have the engine installed and the last couple things done.

I’ve got more to post, but I will do so in a week or two.

Pics of the truck will be HERE once I get them uploaded.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

To all the mothers in my life. Especially my beautiful Wife, on her first ‘official’ mothers day, and of course my own Mom.

 I Love you’s!

Trucks and Bugs and Golfs, oh My!

Well, I’ve joined my wife in the ’30 year old’ club. Don’t feel any older, so I guess thats a good thing. Another good thing is, Abby has hit the 6 month mark, and is doing well. Growing like crazy and doing new things every day.  Gonna have to put a bell on her pretty soon.  Once you put her on the ground, she rolls around the house in seconds. Cute as hell if you ask me.

Bug updates: Spoke with Dion the other day, and he’s hoping to have the engine finished off and ready to install early May.  So I have 2-3 weeks to get my stuff finished off. Once Dion gets it, engine goes in, tail end goes down, and then the door windows get fixed up. Then I can call it ‘done’ for the season and actually drive it around this summer.

Truck updates: Money sucker. Paul finished off the body work a few weeks ago. Body work came out excellent as always. Sadly, the paint matching did not, so I had to buy some new paint from another vender. Hopefully after the re-spray, it will match a lot closer.  This month I’ve also had to replace the 8 year old original GM battery, and both front wheel bearings. Ya, been an expensive month. On the plus side, I have finished the stereo wiring (just need a sub box for completion); put on the new mirrors and door handles;  layed in the bedrug (will make more permanent after the body shops done); and put in my K&N Cold Air intake.  Once the body work is done, the only thing left to do is put in my suspension which *still* hasn’t shown up. Until I book it in for tint/alarm/and find money for wheels. Then she’s done for the year. Not bad for the first 4 months.

Golf updates: Looks like the weather is finally settling down, and the Silverado has started doing my daily duty. So, the golf will be going back to my dad. After a trip to Smouts Garage that is. Little bugger doesn’t stop too well. Im hoping its nothing serious (read: cheap), and I can give it to dad in good working order this week without having to break the bank again.

Till next time…..
