Happy Mothers day to all you mothers out there. Especially the bestest mom in the whole wide world. MINE!  Yep, thats right, if you call anyone other then her “Mom”, all I can say is the best you could possibly have is 2nd best. But I stop keeping score after first place, so I’m afraid I dont know who is actually in second/third/etc place. You can figure that out yourself. Hope you have a great day Ma. We will be coming out to see you soon. Just finishing some stuff up around the house, and then on our way.

Speaking of houses. Ours is about 12 days away from completion. TWELVE DAYS!. I stopped in the other night, and they have the entire place cleaned out. Drywall is complete. The entire place has been primered for paint. And the first floor has the first coat of paint layed down. One more coat downstairs, 2 more upstairs, and its time to put in the floors and cuboards and some odds and sods to finish and we will be READY to move in. Well, the house will be ready for us anyways. However, we still have much packing and prepping to do on our end. When I say much, ya, I mean a whole heck of a lot.

19 Days to go. Crunch time is getting really close. Shannon and I have been spending pretty much any spare time we have packing and cleaning and sorting everything out. We aren’t in bad shape, but there is still no end in sight to this job.  We will get there. And it will be fantastic.

Speaking of jobs; as many of you know Shannon had her final day of work with the City of Hamilton on Thursday (April 29th). She was a very emotional girl for most of last week, and even this weekend. I can’t blame her. It has been a bit hard giving up a job she loves, and leaving her friends that she works with to take on a new job, which in time I hope she will have the same attachment too. Unfortunately until then, she’s gonna be home sick for the City. Tomorrow (Monday May 3rd), Shan starts her new job with the Town of Haldimand. Same money, more benefits, and much closer to the new home. Instead of the 45 minute trip to work (depending on traffic), she will be 10-15 minutes from work. MUCH better in my opinion. Once she settles into the new job, I am sure she will feel the same.

House is getting there. Dad and I stopped in last week. Interior is being cleaned right now, so they can paint, capret and throw down the tiles. Then its time for the final grade on the lot, and sodding of the yard. THEN we move in. They keep assuring me they will be done on time with no problems. Right now I’m a little nervous, but hopeful. Will see in about 2 weeks how things are.

Be back sometime this week when I have more to say.

Sigh. I’m tired. The packing has offiicially began. Today I completed the garage. This was a big job. 2 years worth of crap to be sorted and packed or pitched. 95% of it was pitched. 8 garbage bags, and a whole lotta sweeping later, the garage is ready. Looks like a tire store. But its done.

26 days remain till the house. Shannon and I went and picked out our colours for the garage door, front door and the shutters. We have now made every decision we need to make. At least that we’ve been asked for. Now we just wait for them to put our choices into action. All the painting, the carpeting and tiles need to be done; (very little of ) the front siding needs to be put on; and the landscaping needs to be completed.

I was gonna have my suspension installed this weekend, but alas, with the rain and my need to get moving on the packing, I decided to wait till next weekend. Hopefully I can order and will receive my skid plate before then. More money then I want to put out, but its added insurance and a big protection to the underside of the car. They SHOULD come on the cars stock seeing as the oil pans are so close to the ground. Oh well. Will be sweet when its on. Then the Golf will be done for the year. At least for the big stuff. Might have some small cheap things to do later in the summer, but nothing planned. Next up is to get into the house and to finish the bloody beetle. I’m dying to get her on the road. Sounds like Alex is gonna donate his 1600DP engine to me so with any luck, I will have that in, and the wiring tested before we move. And once we are in, send it to the paint shop and the headliner shop to be finished, and then back home for final assembly and safety tests. I can not wait to hear the thing running again. It’s gonna be fantastic.

Enough from me for today. Zleeepy time. Bugs OUT
