Under a month till Christmas. Yay. I’m excited. Can you tell? I actually don’t detest Christmas as much as everyone thinks I do. I actually quite enjoy it. Well, parts of it anyways. I love the getting together for the holidays, the traditions we all have (i.e.: Christmas Eve at Uncle Shoupies/Grandma and Grandpas place for late night drinks and of course way more food then any should partake in the course of one evening, getting up way to early for presents, breakfast Christmas morning and turkey in the evening). Now that I’m married things get a bit more complicated, but none the less, we will make it through, and try to do as much of everything as we can.  Even if we have to split up here and there to get to the things we find important, we will get through it. Have 3 years running, what’s a few more ;-). The part of Christmas I am not keen on it people buying gifts that they can’t afford to buy for people, who as much as they appreciate it, don’t really need anything. I know its a loosing battle for me, so I will try and enjoy, and hope everyone can avoid going overboard as they always do. As for the decorations, YES I love Christmas decorations. I just can’t get excited putting them up on a little townhouse or apartment. Next year, if all goes as planned, we will have our own house. Then Griswold’s: look out. I’m coming for your tackiest/gaudiest house title. And there isn’t anything Shannon can do to stop me. (debit card may slow me down, as I am poor), but if we accumulate stuff every year, in about 5 years time THIS is what you will be seeing on our house.

In other news:

HERE are the pictures from Mallory’s birthday at Pizza Hut. Sorry for the delay, but my camera was missing in action for a few weeks, along with it the pictures. The link is also on the photos page.

Tomorrow afternoon, I’m picking up a pair of clear bumper lights for the Golf. 40$ well spent to remove the ugly amber ones which are currently on there. Now all I need is some Eibach springs/shocks, set of 18″ wheels, Carecter bumpers and side skirts, and an ABT grill and some go fast goodies and the golf will be done 🙂 .. Too bad the Bug is on the top of the car modding list, not to mention buying a house puts a serious cramp in the modding. Not stops it. Just slows it down a tad. Pictures of the new clear corners will appear on the site soon.

Speaking of the beetle. Alex came over last weekend to help finish up the welding on the front end. End story: bug is ready to go for paint. As soon as my wallet catches up, she’s going in. Visa is going to love me. Hopefully it will be going in just before or just after Christmas. Once we get the house sorted out, I will know better. And that should be Monday or Tuesday of this coming week. Only thing left to do before it goes in is put in the new tie rods which Marks Bug Barn should have for me next week and then call the towing guys. Minimal body work, a couple fender nuts, and its ready for some colour. I can NOT wait. Until next time…..

Almost a month since my last post. Been busy few weeks. Couple highlights which I’m sure I could say more about, but I don’t have the energy

There is an ass load of birthdays during the month of November. Katie, Dad, and most of my cousins. I aint saying each one, cause I can’t remember who’s is when, just know that most of my family was born around this time of year.

Shannon and I are still doing the house shopping thing. We are working with a developer in Hagersville/Caledonia area to develop a plan in our price range. We’re getting close to finalizing, hopefully if all goes well we will have our own home come spring. Cross your fingers.

As if that wasn’t stressful enough, we are also trying to trade Shannon’s blazer in for a Jetta. The money she will be burning driving from Hagersville to Hamilton every day once we move is mind boggling. Hopefully we can get that taken care of before the new year.

And lastly on our plate for the not too distant future is still to try and get the bug painted. Alex is coming over this weekend to help weld what will hopefully be the last few bits. I finally got the piece of metal I’ve needed to finish the front end. Hopefully once its on, everything will sit nice and straight, and I can prepare (finish saving) to get it into the shop to get primed, shaved handles, and painted. I can’t wait to get this old girl running.

Prospect for future project. I’ve spoke to others about this in the past, but I finally found someone who shares my enthusiasm, and also willingness to work on said project. Kyle, AKA Nurse Kylie, AKA Gus, have been seriously talking about building us some mini-choppers. LOW to the ground, really long, fat rear tires, skinny fronts and all kinds of noise. Not unlike the bikes the make at West Coast Choppers, or Orange County Choppers, just a whole lot smaller and lower budget. Should be a blaat.

Yes, I have been slacking. New car, almost a month old and still no pictures online. Well, I FINALLY have some to put up. More to the point, I’ve finally taken the time to post them. HERE is the page for the new Golf. I’m not happy with the web page, so I will be re-designing it eventually. But then again, I’ve been gonna do the whole site over. You’d almost think I have been busy ;-|. Only mods done to the car so far: Tinted the windows 20% all the way around, and put some GTI tail lights on the back. Tails are a subtle change, but they look much better then the stock ones. Just about 1 month old, and already about to hit the 6000km mark. /me sings “I get around” by the Beach Boys.

Not to much else new that I can think of. Shannon and I are actively looking for a house in Hagersville now. We wanted to build, but don’t look like that’s gonna happen, but we will hopefully be able to get a new house from a developer. Not the same as having family build it, but its still a new house, built more to what we want. We really don’t like the idea of moving in to a ‘previously enjoyed’ home and having to fix or replace things. Want a clean and fresh start.

Got a call into the Bug Barn. Getting a quote on what it will cost to put the new front clip on the bug, and also how much it would be to get the car all prepped for paint. Not gonna be able to finish it right now, but I also don’t want a years worth of work to go to waste by letting it get covered in surface rust over the damp winter. Sure would be nice to start next years VW Get togethers’ off by driving to it in the beetle. For those who don’t know, I’ve hung up the Fullsizechevy forums, and started reading the vwvortex forums. Basically they are online communities where enthusiasts share information, pictures, and stuff like that. The local guys in Hamilton, Oakville, Burlington, some Toronto all get together every Tuesday night in Burlington to shoot the breeze, check out each others cars and go for a beer afterwards. Been to a couple, met some new friends and had a pretty good time. However with winter upon us, the time for standing around cars is coming to an end for the season.

That’s it for me for now. You go now. Come back later
