I don’t remember what all has happened in the last few weeks, so if I forget something, I apologize. My wheels are on order. Should have been here today, but alas, they are backordered till NEXT Wednesday. . Sigh. The rubber is in, but no wheels yet. In case you are wondering I decided on the American Racing Torq Thrust ST Chrome 20×8.5 with Goodyear 275/45/20 rubber all the way around. Making a 4/6 drop impossible. However, the drop addiction is still strong, so I will be either dropping to 3/6 drop, or possible air bag the thing. My preference would be bags, but I doubt the budget will allow this year. May just do the static drop this year, save up till next year, and then bag it. If I do that, I will have a bit more breathing space this summer for other stuff. (Its hard to play when you are getting married and building 3 vehicles).

If you are looking for a decent place to get custom work done,  Lens Automotive in Downtown Jarvis, does almost anything you can think of. Custom body work, shaving, lowering, lifting, wheels, you name it. And the best prices around. Trust me, I looked. It’s nice to have a one stop shop that does it all, and stands behind their work. And also isn’t afraid of custom work. Hell, look at Lens daughter truck. Speaking of body work, they will be finishing off the beetle for me 🙂

Craig and Melissa’s’ Jack and Jill was a success. Or at least I think so. Almost my entire family was there. Hell, even good showing on the VanDalens side which was a pleasant surprise. Got to see a bunch of friends I haven’t seen in probably 5 years. And to top it off, I drank away 40$ and woke up hangover free. All in all, sounds like a victory to me. 🙂

Bug updates: Alex’s welding skill rocks. He’s got almost everything finished off. Hopefully we can spend sometime this weekend on it seeing as we skipped last weekend pretty much with all the stuff going on. I think he was out working for a bit, but I didn’t even get to the garage.  Id like to see the motor yanked and the windows up this weekend, so we can start sanding next weekend. Maybe the car show Saturday will give us the inspiration needed to job back into production. While I’m on the subject, what do you think about getting Torq Thrusts for the bug instead of the Empis? I was originally thinking Empi cause they bolt directly on, and match my truck wheels pretty good, but what about wheels that match identically, only smaller? (and minus one spoke, 5 instead of 6). I think it would look good. Would just have to get the hubs re-drilled or even just use the wheel adapters, which will be more likely. If this was going to be a daily driver, or a high power car driven at high speeds, I wouldn’t use the adapters, but its a weekend and summer toy, so the adapters will be fine. Just check them once a month during driving months.

I tried playing ball again :-. Regrettably the caliber of ball is a bit higher then my old bones are willing to play, and with the two jobs, I simply wouldn’t be able to commit enough time. Sorry guys, it was fun, but I just can’t commit with all that’s going on.

Wow, talk about going form quiet weekends to all out non-stop craziness. Started  out Friday night going to a Jack and Jill for a friend of mine from high school who’s marrying a distant cousin of mine. It wasn’t packed, but was still a good time. Lots of people who I haven’t seen in very long time. Got home at the crack of 2-2:30am. Late night would have been fine had we not had to be up bright and early to go to a Jays game with my Dad and sister Katie. *thanks for the tickets and stuff Dad, despite the slow moving game, it was a lot of fun*. Then after a quick shower, into St. Catherine’s for dinner with Jim_ and Alicia. For a couple who we have only really just met, we had a great time. We have known these 2 for several years over IRC, but this is the first time meeting Alicia, and the 3rd time getting together with Jim. Despite that, I feel like we have all been good friends forever. Hopefully Alicia can come up from PA more often so we can all hang out more.

Today is work on the bug and hit the Arbor day. Hopefully we can get the engine and windows cut out and get some more welding done and finish cleaning up the rear wheel wells. Depends on energy and stuff :-). …. Until next time…

Sorry for the delay folks. I got lazy. First off, thanks go out to mom and dad for a fun Easter dinner. Was alot of fun. Even though a little cramped. All in all, a good time 🙂

Wedding plans are getting underway again. Invitations are orderred, flower people have deposit. Only 136 days to go :

Truck is coming along slowly. Couple more steps made. Here is some QUICK PICTURES.  Got the Escalade handles on, tailgate handle shaved off and the roll pan painted and installed. Trucks looking good. Next up is wheels, rubber, 1/2 drop, bedrug, and some new clear corners. (or fix the old ones), then she will be all done, and I can then focus on the wedding and the beetle. Wheels are on order, hopefully I can come up with the cash before they get here 🙂

Speaking of the beetle, its coming along a bit quicker now that the weather doesn’t suck. Got the front passenger wheel well complete with primer. Alex has a small weld job on the drivers side and it will be done. And the inside rear welds which needed to be done are about 95% done. One side complete, the other tacked into place to be finished this week. Sunday looks like the engine pulling day so Alex can finish off the rear welding and we can then get serious about sanding and primering
