After a very long break, I am officially back working on the beetle. Lack of money and time over the past 8-12 months has really slowed things down. Money isn’t much better, but I actually have a place to work on the beetle in my own garage. I can just go out to my garage anytime the urge hits me and work on things. Step one for tonight was get the damned thing cleaned out. While it was at Mom and Dads place there wasn’t much room. So we all ended up using the bug as a storage spot for anything VW. Down side is, the floor pans have developed a hint of surface rust. L I removed everything from the car, and vacuumed out the sawdust and sand (from the sandblasting). I can actually see the inside of the car again.

Next up will be to get some POR15 paint and do the floor pans and engine bay. I’m hoping to pick it up this week and start in the evenings or next weekend if time permits after the ball tournament. After that, I  will be to either getting an engine from Alex or to bringing my old 1500cc from Dads place over here and start cleaning it up and prepping it for installation. I would much prefer to use Alex’s old engine, however time constraints and such have made acquiring the engine difficult. I will likely install my stock 1500cc as I know it runs, and runs well. If/When I get Alex’s engine, I will work on it in the garage and attempt to beef up the performance significantly. Turn it into a real road warrior. Once the buildup is complete, I will just swap engines.

Once the pans and engine bay have been painted with POR15; and the engine is ready to go back in; the next step will be electrical. And then the fun begins.

Stay off the sidewalks! KATIE IS DRIVING! Just kidding. Congrats Munchkin. This is long over due. I took Kate out last night for her maiden voyage and she did very well. She needs to get used to power brakes and steering. Shes been driving an ATV at work for a while, and has a bit of time realizing the accelerator/brake pedals don’t need to be hit quite so hard. She will get it in no time. All for now.

As most of you who visit my site regularly know, it has been up and down like an elevator this past few weeks. I’ve had some hardware troubles, and its been knocking me off the internet. Long and short of it: I think it’s fixed now. Time will tell I suppose.

Not much new to report. Went to Shannons Aunt Barb and Uncle Randy’s last weekend for a BBQ, and also to my Parents for a BBQ.  Had a great time at both. Also, Shannon and I recieved an unexpected gift of a central vaccume from Shannons Mom and Dave. Thanks guys! I can’t wait to hook it up.

Went to Wonderland the other day. I’m still sore. Gus, Shannon and I went on the Wild(e) Beast 8 times. 6 in a row  for Gus and I. Not much else to say that I can think of.  House is still coming along slowly but surely. Bug is still waiting for paint. And nothing new to report for the Golf or Jetta. That is all.
